Hardworking and passionate from the start, PEF Vice President Randi DiAntonio began her career 27 years ago as a social worker in Rochester. Raised in Brooklyn as the child of an AFT member, she grew up knowing the importance of unions and became active early on in her career. Whether serving as a PEF steward, a council leader or as vice president since 2018, integrity and professionalism have been the hallmark of her outspoken and tireless leadership.
When PEF members need her, DiAntonio is there. From short staffing to health and safety risks to threats of closures or privatization, she is a dedicated and tenacious leader who advocates for the members she represents and the people they serve. DiAntonio frequently participates in rallies, legislative hearings, and campaigns to strengthen support for and raise public awareness of issues facing the State workforce. She helped PEF create its “Fund Our Future” coalition, which brings together other labor unions and community groups in an ongoing campaign to reshape State government to better meet the needs of New Yorkers. Two of the campaign’s priorities are fixing Tier 6 of the State pension plan to better attract and retain skilled workers, and modifying the Civil Service system so that public servants can more easily secure and advance their public service careers.
DiAntonio also chairs the Statewide Political Action Committee, overseeing budget advocacy efforts and legislative priorities, as well as member engagement initiatives. She can be found in both Albany and Washington, D.C., fighting for legislation to protect PEF members and fund their agencies so they can focus on providing vital services to all New Yorkers.
Her actions and results are consistent with the union values and principles that drive her. Experienced, frank and outspoken, DiAntonio is the uniquely qualified leader PEF needs to continue to meet its challenges.
