Know Your Contract
The 2023-2026 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between New York State and the members of the PS&T unit governs the terms and conditions of most PEF members’ employment. PEF also represents a few agencies outside the PS&T unit, who have their own CBAs. You can find copies of all the agreements on this page.
The agreement outlines grievance procedures for many situations you may find yourself in while an employee of the State of New York. Here are some of the most frequently used grievance forms:
Joining the Union
PEF has not increased its dues in decades. Only dues-paying members of the union are entitled to legal representation in the event of discipline. The current payroll deduction amounts to less than 1% of an employees’ salary. (0.9 of 1%, to be exact!)

Once we receive your membership application, you will receive an email alerting you that we have received it. You will receive a second email once your membership is active and you become a dues-paying member. It can take up to 4-6 weeks for dues to be deducted. Please monitor your pay stub. If you have any questions, please email JoinPEF@pef.org.
