People’s March with the PEF Statewide Women’s Committee

January 18 @ 9:00 am - 11:30 am

PEF Members in Regions 9-12:

The PEF Statewide Women’s Committee invites you to join us and take action by marching on Saturday, January 18, 2025, to stand up in solidarity to defend our rights, our freedoms and our future.

The committee is partnering with organizers of the People’s March in New York City, who have planned a March of empowerment and visibility and provided the following reasons to March:

  • To defend women’s rights. Our reproductive freedom equals the right to decide if and when to have children.
  • To demand racial justice and honor the leadership of frontline Black and Brown communities.
  • To fight for economic justice, fair wages and the right to retire in dignity.
  • To demand action on climate justice and ensure future generations have clean air and water.
  • To uphold the freedom to live without fear of gun violence or police brutality.
  • To protect our democracy and ensure every vote counts.
  • To stand in solidarity with trans and queer youth and defend their freedom to be themselves without fear.

You may have your own reasons to march and stand up for yourself, your union siblings and all others that are important to you, but we all march for the same cause: defending our rights, our freedom and our future.

Here is a flyer with all the details. We’re meeting at Foley Square in Lower Manhattan, which is bordered by Worth, Centre and Lafayette Streets, on Jan. 18 at 9 a.m. to make signs. If you can make it, please let me know via email at Michele.Rosello@pef.org. The march to Washington Square Park begins at 11. It’s a little more than a mile of walking. The weather won’t stop us, so please dress accordingly! Public restrooms will be available.
